Gone With the Wind
Last Saturday we awoke to a furiously windy morning, the temperature dropped to the low 30ºF and you could easily hear the loud humming and whistling of the strong wind. Just the days before we had reached the high 70ºs!
Believe me when I say that I didn’t see one bird that day! Since then I hardly see a few birds… and the feeder seeds are lasting longer time.
My guess is that many of these birds got spooked by the wind and sudden drop in temperature and realized that migration is not a bad idea at all they might be gone!
Today is 53º at noon while I write this post, this morning we had our first frost, I went outside to refill feeders and felt the frigid dry air in my nostrils. The weather forecast calls for the low 50ºs for the highest for all days of the week. I think it’s Winter time for us in Georgia!

Sorry about the weather but you still posted some nice pictures.
Thanks Susan! The fact is that many birds are gone, some remain but feed at different times, I can’t be there waiting all day for them. 🙂
Sorry about the weather but a wonderful capture anyway !
Thank you! 🙂
I’m sorry most of your birds have gone but the shots you have given us today are really fine. It’s nice to know that the birds are so sensible and know when to migrate!
Thank you my dear Clare! 🙂
I think that winter has at last arrived here as well. A little warmer today, but very wet and windy.
I’m sure you will still find some more good shots like these for us HJ, even through the winter 🙂
Of course! I’ll manage something! Thanks Dave! 🙂
Beautiful shots,as always H.J. Winter arrived with a wintery chill early this morning in my little corner of Hertfordshire.
Thanks Eily! Let the cold weather preserve our cells in good shape ’till next year! 🙂
Another one of the natural cycles falling into place. I hope you get a chance to migrate for a vacation to a warm spot this winter HJ. 🙂
My plan is set already, one week to West Florida the last week of this month! Going to recharge my batteries like my friend “Lithium” 🙂 Thanks Jet!
Still, it brings next spring closer!
That’s right! Thanks Tom! 🙂
We are having strange weather on the other side of the world too. Sorry your little friends have probably migrated.
Thank you Barbara! I’ll be here to wait for their return! 🙂
That’s truly cold… I hope your visitors keep it up with you, though!.
Best wishes HJ, Aquileana:D
I’m sure the local birds will be back shortly! Thank you and hugs for you! 🙂
