Gone With the Wind

Last Saturday we awoke to a furiously windy morning, the temperature dropped to the low 30ºF and you could easily hear the loud humming and whistling of the strong wind. Just the days before we had reached the high 70ºs!

Believe me when I say that I didn’t see one bird that day! Since then I hardly see a few birds… and the feeder seeds are lasting longer time.

My guess is that many of these birds got spooked by the wind and sudden drop in temperature and realized that migration is not a bad idea at all they might be gone!

Today is 53º at noon while I write this post, this morning we had our first frost, I went outside to refill feeders and felt the frigid dry air in my nostrils. The weather forecast calls for the low 50ºs for the highest for all days of the week. I think it’s Winter time for us in Georgia!

    • Thanks Susan! The fact is that many birds are gone, some remain but feed at different times, I can’t be there waiting all day for them. 🙂

  1. I think that winter has at last arrived here as well. A little warmer today, but very wet and windy.

I’m sure you will still find some more good shots like these for us HJ, even through the winter 🙂

    • My plan is set already, one week to West Florida the last week of this month! Going to recharge my batteries like my friend “Lithium” 🙂 Thanks Jet!
