Peanuts and Blues

It’s getting a bit more difficult to photograph bird when the weather temperatures is so hot and humid that anyone can hardly stay for a few minutes outdoors. Besides, birds are having a hard time to hang out by the feeders too long because it may prove to be lethal. They could collapse for reasons of a heat stroke.

I’ve noticed that birds of the Blackbird family and especially from the Corvidae family such as Crows and Blue Jays are more tolerant of the high temperatures and act more calm and comfortable outside. The smaller birds just spend a couple of minutes at the feeders and return to the shaded area of trees or bushes.

For this post I am featuring the handsome bird Blue Jay once again, these birds are familiarizing with my backyard, feeling more confident and returning more often to the feeders and pick their favorite peanuts!

    • Before the AC the homes had the famous ceiling fans and the table fans, homes had high ceilings and large windows with screens and wooden blinds. All depends on the region you live. USA is very large and has totally different geographic environments than the UK in this case England. Thanks Susan! 🙂

  1. Lovely Blue Jays, H.J.! I’ve also noticed the same thing. Very few birds (waders and shore birds) are out and a about at daytime here. Many eat in the morning and late in the evening and spend the rest of the day deep in the bushes.
